The Radiation Center operates a nuclear instrument repair and calibration facility which can accommodate a wide variety of equipment. While repair of nuclear instrumentation is a practical necessity, routine calibration of these instruments on a regular basis is a licensing and regulatory condition which must be met.
The Center's scientific instrument repair facility specializes in the maintenance and repair of all types of portable radiation detection and other nuclear instrumentation. The Radiation Center has a dedicated facility for calibrating essentially all types of portable radiation monitoring instruments across a wide range of radiation types and levels.
Instrument calibrations are performed using ANSI N323A and radiation sources certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) or traceable to the NIST.
